Best Places to Visit in Australia

Australia is the sixth biggest country in the world and if you want to explore it thoroughly, you might as well start your mission right now, because it’s going to take you a lifetime to see and experience all the beauties of this amazing land. However, there are places that are just a bit more interesting than others! So, if you don’t have unlimited time and money, here’s a list of must-see places in Australia for impatient travelers.

Uluru

This magical and historical place in Northern Territory is a sight you’ll never forget. Many people just don’t want to bother going there because they think Uluru is just a rock. But, once you start getting closer, when you feel the ancient energy and vibrations of the Mother Earth, you’ll see why this is one of the most popular destinations in whole Australia.

The Great Barrier Reef

No matter if you’re a seasoned diver or a first-time snorkeler, you’ll love the Great Barrier Reef. Stretching around 2,300 kilometers, this reef is full of unusual, rare and endangered marine flora and fauna. Since the reef is so big, there’s no one place that you absolutely must visit, but many people agree that the Whitsunday Islands are definitely at the top of the Great Barrier Reef sites.

The Great Ocean Road

Road trips are often the best way to ‘feel’ a country and experience its natural and manmade beauties. So, if you find yourself in Oz, make sure to find a good ride and take a trip down the Great Ocean Road. This is certainly one of the best and most famous scenic drives in the world even though it’s less than 250 kilometers long. However, don’t rush your trip! Take your time, make plenty of stops and soak up all the panoramic views of the ocean and the cliffs.

Sydney

You simply can’t visit Australia and skip its biggest and most famous city! As a matter of fact, you can dedicate your whole vacation just to exploring this New South Wales giant. However, if you’re limited by time, make sure to see the Sydney Opera House and Darling Harbor, together with its aquarium, many museums and shopping opportunities. If you’re more into active/sporty tourism, visit Randwick that has plenty of bushwalking trails, cycling tracks, sailing schools, scuba diving and snorkeling spots and amazing surf beaches! Plus, the accommodation is worth every penny! There are stylish Randwick hotels that offer ultimate comfort for a very affordable price, and you’ll have famous Tamarama and Coogee beaches some 3 minutes from your hotel room!

Byron Bay

This beach town is huge with tourists, but also a beloved vacation destination for Australians. So, if you want to experience a true Aussie beach life, this is the place to be. It also hosts plenty of super fun festivals all year long from amazing music festivals to film projections, mass dance parties and spiritual journeys. Plus, the town’s little lighthouse on the hill and the sunset behind it is a real treat for all Instagram-obsessed travelers, so don’t forget to get picture-ready when in Byron Bay!

Tasmania

An often forgotten state of Australia, Tasmania is also one of the prettiest places you can visit! It’s a mixture of dreamy New Zealand landscape and amazing city infrastructure that often leave the visitors speechless. Make sure to visit the MONA art museum and at least one historical site from the British colonial period. However, the best thing about Tasmania are the beaches! It has many peaceful and secluded lagoons perfect for a romantic getaway!

This is just a tiny portion of all the amazing places you can visit in Australia, so keep in mind that you’ll have to come back to Oz if you want to see more of it (and you certainly will!) Once you get a taste of Aussie life, you’ll always be thirsty for more!
